A unique percussion-themed vacation bible school program.
A vacation bible school curriculum designed to show parallels between percussion and a faith-based life. Students will learn and play percussion instruments to form building blocks for a concert at the end of the week. Those musical building blocks are then related to corresponding spiritual building blocks that the students can use for a lifetime.
Percussion rudiments are like the alphabet of drumming. You learn the basic sounds and then put them together to make more complex rhythms, like you would with letters and words. We will use the rudiments to symbolize steps that the students can take toward understanding salvation and building a God-centered Christian life. Each beginning rudiment will relate to an action they can take in their life to build their Christianity. As the rudiments get tied together into greater musical passages, so will the action steps toward their Christianity.
We strive to introduce and improve understanding of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Bible and their meaning for all of us, in addition to building positive traits of behavior, character and teamwork.
This program is intended for grades K-3, 4-6 and 7-9 in separate tracks for each age group in order to account for differences in motor skills and comprehension. Adult tracks are available as well.
Instruments, sticks and mallets will be provided along with a commemorative t-shirt that the students may take home.
Our program is divided into 5 study areas. These can be done in a 5-day week, Monday-Friday from either 8:30-11:30am, or 5:30-8:30pm each day.
Another option is to meet one night a week for 5 weeks, like every Thursday from 5:30-8:30pm, or whatever day is suitable for you.
In addition, with the one night a week option we can also offer a similar experience for parents at the same time that the kids are in their class.
In each scenario we would plan a concert at the final session where the kids can play for the parents or they can play for each other if the parents took a class as well.
We also like to cap the program off with an ice-cream social after the final concert!
Is there a Bible Beats near me and what does it cost?
Bible Beats can take place just about anywhere! We are based in Horsham, PA. If your church or organization would like to run the program just let us know and we'll help with all the details. A group instruction space is the minimum that we need. If several different age groups are involved, classrooms or other breakout spaces are ideal.
There is no cost to participate in Bible Beats, nor is there a cost for a church or other organization to host. We believe in sharing the Gospel first and foremost. However, donations are appreciated. Bible Beats is a program of a 501(c)3 non-profit organization called The Rhythm Mission. We ask that if this program is a blessing to you and you'd like to see it continue to thrive, please make a tax deductible donation of your choice:
